From the Archives

I was asked recently about my work and how I got to this place and time. Here is a tiny bit of information but many of you already know me from my road travel or other writing.

Born in Colorado. Road-tripped 45 states and lived in 7. Most of my life was spent in California from the OC to the Bay Area, Los Gatos and Carmel. VP career in technology – then started my own PR firm. That went bust in the dotcom crash. As always, I picked up and kept going. Been involved with so many things it’s hard to remember them all but I learned so much from each and every one. It is true there are no failures – just a rich tapestry of experience.

I have been bent and broken, but I hope into a better shape.
(Charles Dickens)

The art above is one of my favorite early works. I called it Old Order.  It was purchased by a law office in San Jose, California in 2001, and is still hanging.

Artistic inspirations include John Singer Sargent and Debra Sievers for their vision of a subject. I typically use acrylics and glazing techniques. Subject matter changes with the wind. I draw from current events or a photo that captures my attention and I do occasional impressionist portraiture. These days, my art tends to be more metaphor. I don’t always plan it that way – but something happens during the process and a story develops in my head. Some of those stories are in short form here.

Paintings and other artwork (including pieces in mixed media, wood, clay, and digital) have been in many galleries or shows in locations including, California, North Carolina, New Mexico and Arizona.
